June 2013

Breakfast and calculators... just a typical June morning around our house!

Noah and Caleb enjoyed a week of VBS.

We spent a weekend camping with friends at Clifty Falls State Park.  There were some beautiful hiking trails there.

There is Clifty Falls, tiny in the background!

You can see Kentucky on the other side of the river.  If you know my boys, you know how excited they were about this!

Can't go camping without calculators!

Helping close up the camper

Two weeks later, we took yet another camping trip!  This time we met family (Harpers, Corneliuses, Wiants, and Meyerses) at Alum Creek State Park.  I didn't take many pictures, mostly because it rained half the weekend.  But the kids at least got to have their annual fishing trip.  The fish were not biting that day, and Noah was the only one who persevered long enough to catch something.

If you look very closely, you can see the teeny tiny fish.  Noah and Grandpa worked very hard to catch that poor thing!

I got a nice shot of Noah, his Great-Grandma Wiant, and cousin Aiden.  Then it started to rain.

This pretty much sums up the rest of the weekend.  I wish I had a picture of all of us crammed into that tiny cabin.  Nevertheless, it was precious time spent with beloved family!

Up next... July fun and Micah's birthday!!

Emerald Isle Vacation

In June, the day school let out, we headed out of town on our way to one of our favorite vacation spots, Emerald Isle, North Carolina!  We were there with Grammy, Pap, Brad, Kelli, Emmalyn, and Jameson.

All packed up and ready to go!

 Snow cone break

When we got there, the kids could hardly wait to get to the ocean.

 Fun in the sand

This is the only picture from the trip with me in it!  I guess I need to remember to pass the camera to Brett more often.

Fun in the pool
This week, Caleb started swimming independently for the first time (with the help of multiple flotation devices)!

Micah also became very comfortable on his own in the water.

All that fun wears boys out!

The kids loved their daily "Smartie Parties" with Pap.

We spent one morning at the aquarium.

Caleb was really into reading the map of the aquarium.  Micah was being a cheese ball, as usual.

Playing games at the beach house

A fun round of mini golf

A sad farewell to the beach!

What a fun week!

Spring 2013

I am attempting to catch up on my blog, starting with some spring highlights.

In March, we enjoyed a day at the Indy Children's Museum.  The boys thought this mirrored room was hilarious.

Brett and a couple neighbor friends constructed a playset for the kids in our backyard.

The playset is a favorite place to play!

We were loving the warmer weather and explored the creek behind our house.  We can't go back there now because there is too much poison ivy!

Brett and I took a trip to NYC.  It was a business trip for him and vacation for me!  It was so fun seeing so many famous places in person!  Our hotel was right in Times Square.

Caleb discovered that he loves Legos and is pretty good at them too!

In April, Caleb had a preschool field trip to the Kidscommons, a children's museum in our town.  Micah got to tag along.  Here they are in the bubble room.

This picture cracks me up because of what the boys were doing.  They were balancing a tennis ball on a wood stake and counting how many seconds before the wind blew it off.  The first few times, it didn't take long, but the last time they were in the 500s somewhere and still counting when finally it was time to come inside.  The things that entertain them!

We had a fun visit with cousin Aiden, Aunt Julie, and Uncle Andrew!

Caleb got the knack of pumping!  I don't know who was more excited, him or me!  Also, Micah ditched the baby swing started riding like a big boy.

In May, Caleb and his preschool class visited Agriculture Day at the fair grounds.  Micah got to tag along again.  Here they are checking out some chicks.

A third field trip for Caleb!  He and his preschool class visited a nearby farm.

Grandpa came for a visit and discovered a baby bunny in the basement window well.  The thing the kids remember most about this bunny is that it peed on Grandpa when he picked it up.

I was pampered for Mother's Day by these three boys and their dad!

Caleb's preschool graduation!  He's kindergarten bound!

Last day of preschool!

Noah performed the role of narrator in a Readers Theater with his reading class at school.

We went camping at Brown County State Park with our small group from church.  The kids spent quite a bit of time playing with caterpillars.

I love moments like this!

Noah and some of his goofy friends took a hike as part of a field trip to Brown County State Park.

We had a visit from some friends from Cincinnati and had fun showing them around town.

Noah played coach pitch baseball.  It was neat seeing him improve his skills and knowledge of the game.  He really enjoyed playing.

Caleb played T-ball for the first time.  He loved it and was quite speedy running around the bases!  Between Noah and Caleb, we were at the ball park 4 days a week for most of May and June.  Phew!

We helped our friend Bo celebrate her birthday!

Noah's last day of 1st grade

Coming soon (hopefully)... summer pics!
